Monday afternoon inside the Coca-Cola 101.5 Live Lounge, Jackie Morales of 101.5 jamz had the pleasure of interviewing upcoming artist Austin Mahone. Austin discussed his  musical inspirations, Bieber comparisons and who he plans on working with in the future.

Austin is only 16 and is already on his way to stardom, even being compared to international superstar and heart throb Justin Bieber.

“I”m happy with it I mean it’s a lot to take in all at once but its really fun and i’m enjoying it.” Austin says.

With over 350,000 youtube subscribers and over 750,000 twitter followers, Austin’s fan base is growing rapidly. Austin shares with Jackie just exactly how he’s acquired so man fans, also know as “Mahomies”, off of Youtube and twitter.

“I started my channel with my best friend Alex and we had this channel making these random videos doing nothing and then I decided to post some covers on there and I got a lot of positive feedback from it so I made a different channel and did nothing but covers on that one and built this huge fanbase.”

How has Austin handled the comparisons to Justin Bieber?

“It is pretty big because he’s so successful and I hope to be as successful as him one day. And its flattering because he’s one of my inspirations.” he tells Jackie.

Austin also opens up about meeting his idol, Justin Bieber and what advice that Biebs had for him.

“He was outside of an elevator when I was getting off.” Austin said. “I just said hey what’s up. He gave me some advice. Just to keep going and not to stop just because I gain so much, just to keep going and going.”

What artists would Austin like to collaborate with in the future? Let’s just say Austin has excellent taste.

Before the ending the interview, Austin performed an acoustic version of his single that he wrote with Mike Posner and Bei Maejor, ‘Say Somethin’“.
